How to Prep for Your Photoshoot

Your photoshoot is coming up, and I hope you’re as excited about your photoshoot as I am! If you’re uncertain on what to wear, I’ll be here to walk you through what we’ll be going over and what you should have prepared for our call or chat!

The purpose of this style consult is to check in to see where you are with your outfit ideas and overall to get a better sense of what you’re looking for in your photoshoot. Whether you have all your outfits planned or no idea at all, it’s important that we check in before your shoot.

Questions to keep in mind

If you don’t know what kind of photoshoot you want, try thinking through these questions:

  • How do I want to portray myself in these portraits?

  • Where and how do I want to use my images to celebrate myself and decorate my space?

How Many Outfits Should I Prepare?

Now, you don’t need to have all your outfits picked out quite yet, but we are trying to aim the outfit that you feel good to wearing! We want to think about how we can create variety during your session through different fabric textures, styles, and colors!

Creating a Moodboard

The best way to start planning for your photoshoot is to create a moodboard! An easy way to start is through Pinterest! You can add anything that inspires you: clothing, colors, poses, etc!

How to Search: We can start with something simple like “portrait photography.” Once you find a few photos that you really like, you can start adding other word to narrow your search.

You can try: moody, bold, classic, soft, shadows, floral, etc.

Here is an example of what my moodboard looks like for some couples portrait shoots!
